HospiceCare faces many growing demands when it comes to caring for our patients coping with terminal
illnesses and their families. There are several ways you can help HospiceCare meet these demands.
We are a fully qualified charitable organization, so all gifts to HospiceCare are tax-deductible as
provided by law. Every gift, no matter its size, makes a difference in the lives of terminally ill
adults and children, and their families.
Contributions to HospiceCare can take many forms.
Most people want to make their mark on the world - to do something that leaves the earth a better place.
Your contribution to our future makes a statement about your thoughtfulness and it will give you the
satisfaction of knowing that you have made a difference.
When you make a donation to HospiceCare
in honor or in memory of a loved one, you will receive an acknowledgment of the donation, as will the
family of your loved one.
- Memorial or In Honor of Gifts - Memorial gifts and tributes
honoring family and friends offer meaningful ways to express support or acknowledge special occasions
such as anniversaries and birthdays. Often, families specify "memorials to HospiceCare in lieu of
flowers" in funeral notices.
- Gift Plaques - Donors can purchase a brass leaf for the
"Tree of Life" which is located in the McJunkin Day Room at The Elizabeth Hubbard Hospice House beginning
at $250.
- Consider a Bequest - Many friends of HospiceCare who are
unable to make substantial gifts during their lifetimes choose to recognize HospiceCare in their wills.
You might want to join our many friends who have helped through bequests - gifts through their wills or
living trusts.
- Give Life Insurance - You can name HospiceCare as the primary
or secondary beneficiary of a policy on your life or contribute an old policy that you no longer need.
- Gift of Bank Accounts - Ask the account manager how savings and
checking accounts, CDs or other accounts can be made payable to HospiceCare upon your death.
- Gifts of Stocks, Mutual Funds or Real Property - Donors can
deduct not just the
original cost, but any "paper profit" present in the gift, and there are no capital
gains taxes due when you give securities. Real estate, mutual funds and other types of property offer
the same advantages.
- Hospice Foundation of West Virginia - The Hospice Foundation of
W.Va. was formed as a non-profit corporation to support Kanawha Hospice Care, Inc. and other charitable and
educational purposes related to end-of-life care. Support is provided by receiving, dispersing and investing
donated monies or properties.
