News & Events

HospiceCare would like to thank all of the individuals, businesses, foundation and civic groups who have provided highly visible events or activities to help promote our organization. Such events help provide much needed public relations to spread the word about the programs and services HospiceCare. They also are a great way to educate and inform those who may need hospice one day.

HospiceCare is tremendously fortunate to share partnerships with so many people, businesses, foundations and civic groups that play a major role in our fundraising efforts! Our signature event – "The Love Light Tree" – is looking forward to celebrating its 25th season this November and December at the Charleston Town Center Mall (which also will be celebrating its 25th Anniversary). The success of this fundraiser is that people have grown accustomed to seeing the Love Light Trees and the HospiceCare volunteers every year. Many times there have been donors who approach the tree display and have said that they need to make their annual donation to such a very worthy cause. Interacting with the community is an invaluable and special part of the work we do at Hospicecare.

We enjoy interacting with the community to make our other fundraisers successful, as well: the Smoke on the Water Chili Cook-off (link to Cook-off site); the annual Tennis Tournament at the Charleston Tennis Club; the Tidewater Dinner Gala; the MotorTrend International Auto Show hosted by the WV Automobile and Truck Dealers Association; the annual Stonestreet & Associates Golf Tournament; and the annual Wine Auction in Lewisburg, among others.

Throughout the year, we receive numerous requests to speak at churches, civic groups, and social clubs. HospiceCare is always present and requested during the “Employee Campaigns” for The United Way of Central West Virginia. Our Speakers Bureau is made up of staff and volunteers and provides the community with educational materials and information on how to access HospiceCare services.

For more information about any of our community events or to request a speaker for your next church or civic group meeting, please contact Jim Wilkerson or Jeff Sikorovsky in our Development Office, (304) 768-8523 or (800) 560-8523.
