"Care of the Terminally Ill" is a four-week training program provided by HospiceCare. The course is designed to prepare potential volunteers and healthcare professionals for the various aspects of hospice work. Individuals interested in any aspect of hospice work for personal enrichment are welcome.

All volunteers who have contact with patients/families (i.e. home care, nursing home, angel watch, bereavement and Hubbard Hospice House) are required to take the training class. Other volunteer opportunities include transportation, office, bulk mail, speakers bureau, fundraising/special events, and Friends of Hospice.
Training program speakers are HospiceCare staff members, unless otherwise noted.
For more information about volunteering for HospiceCare or the training class, contact: Volunteer Director Melanie Allen, (304) 768-8523 or (800) 560-8523.
Classes will be held from 9:00-11:30 am and 6:00-8:30 pm on each Tuesday and Thursday in October and March at the Main office. Morning and evening classes are offered to meet different schedules. Material presented in the morning is repeated in the evening session.
Please note that we have changed our process of accepting prospective volunteers into the class. Registration is required and includes a completed application, references, and an interview prior to the start of classes. Seating is also limited, so early registration is strongly encouraged.
If you would like a refresher course or know of anyone interested in becoming a HospiceCare volunteer, a call to the Volunteer Department will start the process. |
