HospiceCare at CAMC Memorial Hospital is a 12-bed facility located inside CAMC Memorial in Kanawha City, WV. The in-patient unit was designed to easily transfer patients from the ICU to the hospice unit, where they can receive end-of-life care in a comfortable, home-like environment. Nurses and certified nursing assistants are available around the clock to provide care. Social workers, counselors and chaplains tend to the counseling and spiritual needs of the patient and families. Our doctors regularly visit the patients and are on call 24 hours a day. Volunteers also are available to make the patient and families as comfortable as possible. HospiceCare at CAMC Memorial Hospital is appropriate for patients who:
- Require more intensive, skilled medical care than can be provided in their home or place of residence;
- Need respite care to give their family a short rest from providing care at home; or
- Do not have a caregiver in the home and can no longer safely live alone.
